Just a little background of the Martin church

This is an overview of the Martin church and what you might expect on any given Sunday.

Sunday

Worship 9:00am
Bible Class 10:00am
Evening Worship 6:00pm

Wednesday 7:00pm

We are blessed with approximately 100 teachers. Teachers rotate each week so that everyone may have a chance to teach during the quarter. We also have a ladies class on Wednesday nights. Ladies of the congregation alternate teaching this class.

Lads-To-Leaders/Leaderettes is an integral part of our youth program.

The Martin church of Christ is located in Martin, TN. Martin is in northwest Tennessee in Weakley county. Dresden is the county seat. Martin has approximately 10,600 residents, excluding college students. The University of Tennessee  has a branch in Martin with approximately 6000 students.

The Martin church of Christ is the sponsoring congregation for the University of Tennessee at Martin church of Christ student center on campus. Brian Stephens is the full time campus minister.

The Martin church building  was built around 1964 and has been through numerous expansions. The current seating capacity is around 500 and on many Sunday mornings chairs are used for more seating. It is estimated that the building is at 80%-90% capacity on any Sunday.

Presently there are 6 elders, 16 deacons, a youth/family minister, (John Farber) 2 secretaries, (Anna Laura Bell and Nancy Simmons) and on Fridays an on-site counseling service.

The church supports mission efforts in many locations. Normally three times a year trips to Costa Rica are scheduled. This year we have already had a group travel there. Another trip is planned for the end of March and a vacation bible school is scheduled for July.

The elders plan two gospel meetings per year. David Powellis scheduled for October 2006.

The mission statement reflects the attitude of the congregation. The congregation can be described as a loving, caring, benevolent body of Christ anxious to be fed God's word and dedicated to the spreading of the gospel throughout this community and the world.
